MEETING WITH A CUBAN FARMER
We spent a day following Adalberto Suarez, a Cuban farmer that everyone calls Tatico. This tireless worker lives with his parents, wife and daughter. Every day since he was 15, he has got up at 6am in the morning to grow tobacco, pineapple, beans, grapefruit, beetroot and tomatoes and to tend to his goats and sheep.
On horseback, Tatico took us to discover his world with his friend Hector, and explained to us all the specific features of agriculture in a country coming out of 56 years of embargo. When I told him that his Western look reminded me of Clint Eastwood, Tatico said he was willing to believe me, but he had no idea who Clint Eastwood was.
