In 2014, DECATHLON, the French leader in the design and sale of sports equipment, wanted to unite its own brands and refocus on its image to make it simpler, more meaningful and more impactful. In 2015, the group asked us for an analysis of its entire image library. DECATHLON PHOTOGRAPH AND ILLUSTRATION GUIDELINES Analysis Action plan Workshop Brainstorming Photograph and illustration guidelines In 2014, DECATHLON, the French leader in the design and sale of sports equipment, wanted to unite its own brands and refocus on its image to make it simpler, more meaningful and more impactful. In 2015, the group asked us for an analysis of its entire image library. 1.STATEMENT As a result of this analysis, significant differences in quality, image capture, image processing and light were observed. Historically, each internal brand had worked independently and with autonomy. There was a lack of overall unified artistic direction. 2.MISSION Define an overall framework that facilitates increased consistency, meaningfulness and pride. Upgrade the quality of content. Give meaning to the images to make people want to exercise. 3.ISSUES How can we bring all of DECATHLON's leader images and the group's entire image creation and production ecosystem together around a common artistic vision? How do we manage a cross-functional project for a group of more than 80,000 employees split into more than 50 internal brands? 4.STANCE Build collaborative thinking to define a coherent overall artistic direction. Assert the group's values and bring them out through images. 5.KEY STEPS An action plan was defined in order to complete this cross-functional project : Analyse Unite Deploy Apply 5.1 ANALYZE Following the initial study of the image library, the project continued with a 360° analysis internally and externally, in France and abroad. 5.2 UNITE By running internal brainstorming sessions, we defined the values and codes of the group's photography in the summer of 2016. At the heart of the discussion was a representative panel of internal and external stakeholders involved in the production or use of photos and videos. Co-writing was the key to success, as it resulted in shared support for the project. 5.3 DEploy In order to improve consistency while respecting the identity of each sport, the brand entrusted us with applying the framework to its internal brands in late 2016. To do this, we created a bespoke workshop and rolled it out to more than 20 brands. Some of the best known are QUECHUA, BTWIN, DOMYOS, OXELO, KIPSTA and TARMAK, which have just signed in 2021 with the NBA 5.4 APPLy Ensuring compliance with the photograph and illustration guidelines written to date is the responsibility of the company and its brands. Today, we guarantee this in the creation of advertising campaigns. 6. OUTCOME A meaningful, powerful and harmonious image library. Simplification and optimisation of the work of image stakeholders. Pride and a greater sense of belonging to the brand for its teams. 7. continuous improvement In 2023 we continue to work with Decathlon in order to promote the growth of their new internal brands. We are co-building new iconographic charts to create photo and video contents that are both impactful and unforgettable. To accompany the launch of its new ultra-light, dynamic running shoes, KIPRUN entrusted us with the creation of an immersive 3D animation, designed to highlight its technical architecture combining carbon plate and high-density injected foam. Designed to break records and dominate competitions, these performance shoes are among the three lightest on the market. KIPRUN RACE ULTRA 2 Art direction 3D Animation Motion Design To accompany the launch of the Race Ultra II at the 2025 UTMB, Kiprun entrusted us with the creation of an immersive video combining 3D animation, motion design, recordings, and real videos. This creation showcases the modernization of the Race Ultra into the Race Ultra II, designed to push the limits of performance. Through a technical aesthetic. Aim was to illustrate the evolution of the shoe, with a focus on Matryx fabric, which provides optimal resistance and support. The visual narrative presents the symbiosis between the shoe and its extreme environments through morphing games, highlighting its link and versatility on the most demanding terrain in this rigorous discipline, which can range from short trails to ultra-trails. Through a motion design video, four young football players are transported into magical realms – earth, fire, ice, and desert – where each outfit unveils a unique power. Four worlds, one power At the heart of the action, the kids transform, awakening the magical animal within them. Illustrations enhance this adventure, highlighting gear that doesn’t just dress them but empowers them, instilling confidence and a drive to excel. To mark this event, Lapierre collaborated with the Banana agency to produce a video which tells the story of the signing of this new contract. LAPIERRE WE ARE BACK ! Art direction 3D animation Motion design Driven by a passion for innovation, Lapierre is proud to announce its partnership with the Picnic PostNL team. To mark this event, Lapierre collaborated with the Banana agency to produce a video which tells the story of the signing of this new contract. This story begins in the vast Dutch plains and takes us to the passes and peaks of the Alps. We drew inspiration from the landscapes of the Netherlands, birthplace of the Picnic PostNL team, to design a surreal 3D environment. Bathed in warm, intense and saturated light, this almost Martian world depicts two cyclists pushing their limits to the end of the effort. Tension rises, heart rate accelerates, and behind them, a trail of light symbolizes their passion and determination. The atmosphere is mysterious, enigmatic, unreal. An alliance towards new heights Together, the cyclists cross the plains and reach the Alps, still bathed in vibrant orange light. We follow their ascent to the summit, where their beams of light merge to soar to new heights. This frantic race perfectly illustrates the spirit of this partnership. PostNL and Lapierre are joining forces and ambitions to climb new heights together. This new chapter extends Lapierre's vision of performance and spreads their know-how well beyond borders. A new page in cycling opens for 4 years. And it will cause a lot of ink to flow! KIPRUN KD900X LAB Art direction 3D Animation Motion Design For the launch of its new ultra-light, dynamic running shoes, KIPRUN entrusted us with the creation of an immersive 3D animation, designed to highlight its technical architecture combining carbon plate and high-density injected foam. Designed to break records and dominate competitions, these performance shoes are among the three lightest on the market. The animation reveals the shoe under construction in a darkened environment: foam beads agglomerate, carbon fibers intertwine, giving rise to an innovative, racy silhouette of taut, sharp lines. To enhance the immersive experience, we crafted a custom sound design that evokes the shoe’s lightness, movement, and precision. Through subtle lighting effects and FPV shots plunging into the very interior of the shoe, the video transcribes the technicality and precision of its design into a sensory experience. A concentrate of performance embodied in an ultra-dynamic mise-en-scène. DISCOVER BEHIND THE SCENE To enhance the 3D animation, we created a custom sound design. It all starts with aerial SFX to accompany the camera and shoe movements. Each scene has its own atmosphere: balloon inflation sounds for the foam, zippers to illustrate the assembly of the fabric, and an evolving musical layer, ranging from dark, metallic textures to bright, light sounds. Everything is mixed in stereo with spatialization in harmony with the elements for total immersion in the shoe. Discover the parallel between the initial graphic intentions and the final rendering. This enabled us to crystallise a visual identity imbued with human warmth. The italic typography encourages connection, while the minimalist logo, composed of two semicircles in perfect symbiosis, embodies the idea of stability and balance, a visual metaphor for the name 'Statera', meaning balance in Latin. The introduction of vast landscapes into this visual identity brings a touch of nature and serenity, reinforcing the sense of calm that STATERA seeks to offer. STATERA stands as a beacon of hope, a hand stretched out towards a future where silence regains its tranquillity.
